Lord Garmoyle, later Earl Cairns. He was sued for breach of promise by the actress May Fortescue. FH printed two sarcastic articles about the matter in the Evening News, attacking Lord Garmoyle's father, the then Earl Cairns, as the one to blame for the end of the relationship. FH claims his articles were instrumental in causing Earl Cairns to give in and pay out ten thousand pounds to Miss Fortescue in damages.
