Professor of English literature, critic. Wrote reviews for the Saturday Review when FH was editor. One Mr Yeatman, whose book The Gentle Shakspeare, a Vindication was described by Collins as 'a ... nauseous and despicable compound of unctuous sectarian cant, bemuddlement, ignorance, dogmatism, and fatuity', sued the Saturday unsuccessfully for libel.
