Actor, writer. FH mentions Grossmith in passing, describing his performances at the Savoy Theatre in Gilbert and Sullivan's comic operas: 'a sort of elf who could sing with extraordinary speed'. FH does not mention the achievement for which Grossmith is best remembered nowadays: his co-authorship with his brother Weedon of The Diary of a Nobody, in which FH is memorably caricatured.
