I have a copy of the book "My Darling Daisy" written by Theo Lang (1965) which relates to Lady Daisy Warwick attempting to blackmail King George V in 1914 in relation to letters written to her by the King's father, King Edward VII (written when he was both Prince of Wales and King). Frank Harris assisted Lady Warwick with the blackmail plan which included the threat to publish the letters and memoirs in America if not paid a large sum of money. Arthur Du Cros, head of the Dunlop Rubber Corporation, was the intermediary on the side of the Royal Family. He referred to his previous employee, Frank Harris, as "that poisonous person". As pressure was building on both sides, Lady Warwick sought help from another intermediary and in stepped my great uncle, Bruce Logan, which is my interest in this episode. Bruce Logan at the time was a business partner in London of Clarence Hatry. I understand that the forgeries and deceptions of Hatry contributed to the Wall Street Crash of 1929. He served a significant jail sentence as a result. The reps of the Royal Family went to great lengths to keep the matter of the blackmail secret. Theo Lang, the author, accidently stumbled upon the meticulous notes of Arthur Du Cros when researching another book in the 1960s.
