In a letter from FH to Nellie Harris he denies the truth of rumours about himself and "Eve Balfour". The most likely candidate, suggested by Euan Mathieson in an e-mail to me, would seem to be the silent film actress Eve Balfour, who appeared in a number of films in the early 20th century.

Judging stereotypically by her photo, the other prominent Eve Balfour, the founder of the Soil Association, looks a less likely candidate.
