Manchester-born writer and publisher who spent most of his adult life in Paris. Founder of the Obelisk Press, which printed the first trade edition of My Life and Loves as well as a number of other equally candidly written works.

His approach to publishing was continued by his son, Maurice Girodias, who created the Olympia Press.

Kahane may very possibly have been the mysterious "Mr Kalnay".
