Canadian writer, frequent contributor to the Fortnightly Review. Allen worked at Brighton College but left just before FH started there, then later became a good friend. Uncle to Grant Richards, who was named after him. Wrote poular novels such as What's Bred in the Bone and The Woman who Did. Shared FH's views about openness in sexual matters.
