Philippa Pullar was an unusual woman, to say the least. Her first book, Consuming Passions was a survey of writings about eating and drinking. FH's tirades against gluttony in English society featured prominently in that work and no doubt led her to a deeper interest in him, resulting in her Frank Harris in 1974. Not long afterwards she developed an interest in yoga and allied 'New Age' subjects, and she disappeared from the mainstream literary scene.
